Job Description
Thorofare Capital seeks to hire an Analyst/Associate for its commercial real estate credit investment platform at the firm’s headquarters in El Segundo, CA. The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Originations and Credit teams with all aspects of credit transaction analyses, including the underwriting of potential transactions, the preparation of investment committee memoranda, the coordination of all loan due diligence, pipeline management, and select reporting functions. She/he will work closely with senior members of the group and will have extensive interaction with management teams and external consultants, counterparties and the firm’s clients.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Analyze real estate credit opportunities by performing Excel-based financial analysis.
- Draft “pre-flight” transaction summaries as well as drafting of full investment memoranda summarizing key asset and market information as well as preliminary recommendations based upon these findings.
- Author comprehensive investment committee memoranda outlining investment rationale, due diligence findings, and key execution risks.
- Work closely with the originations team to determine appropriate downside protection structures commensurate with the perceived risk.
- Participate in weekly pipeline meetings.
- Support the due diligence, underwriting and closing of new loan originations.
- Conduct property and market due diligence with travel as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 0-5 years of relevant experience in real estate, investment banking, or finance.
- Understanding of real estate credit.
- Strong quantitative and financial acumen is required and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exceptional time management and prioritization are necessary to succeed in a fast-paced environment where it will be required to manage multiple projects with significant responsibilities and competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels are keys to success.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong presentation skills.
